面影－Traces of Hands

フレーム内に棚状にアクリルミラーを設置し、その各段の間にも斜めにミラーを設置している。棚の上向きの面に、砂によって描かれたフレームのイメージが、またその中心に砂を指で払った跡が残されているという作品。このトータルなイメージは各段に分割されたものが斜めに設置されたミラーに映り、鏡像として見えているものとなっている。
この作品は、近年制作してきたMirror Drawingの先に見えてきた展開で、これまで私が触れてきた、“描くことの原点や、小さい単位とその集積によって立ち上がるイメージ”といったことを要素として共有している。砂に描かれた手の痕跡は象徴的で、イメージの原点として、それを改めて重要なものとしてフレームに納めたいと思ったのだが、それさえもフレーミングされた像として、また鏡像として存在しており、それが現代におけるイメージの実像のように感じている。
Within the frame are acrylic mirrors set up like shelves, and mirrors placed diagonally between each tier. The upward-facing surface of the mirrors features an image of a frame drawn in sand, and traces of hand lines in the center. This total image is divided into individual tiers, which are reflected in the diagonally placed mirrors, appearing as mirror images.
This work is a further development of the Mirror Drawings I have been creating in recent years, and shares elements I have mentioned in the past, such as the origins of drawing and the images that arise from the accumulation of small units. The hand marks in the sand are symbolic, and I wanted put them in a frame as an important image, but even they exist as framed images and as mirrored images, which I feel represent the true nature of images in now.
